At Guilford Technical Community College, our vision is to be a catalyst for success by providing our students with a new and innovative experience. We are listening to the needs of the community and creating programs in emerging fields.
Beginning in fall 2017, Guilford Technical Community College will launch four new and exciting programs.
Aerostructures Manufacturing and Repair Diploma
Aerostructures Manufacturing and Repair is a new diploma program in GTCC’s aviation division. The program will prepare you for entry-level employment testing for sheet metal assembly, repair, and modification, as well as entry composite technician employment at a manufacturing or repair facility.
Coursework includes materials, tooling, aerostructure components, production procedures, planning, quality control, aerospace standards and aerostructure assemblies.
Graduates should qualify for employment in aerostructure manufacturing and other similar industries as project assembly and repair technicians, quality testers and inspectors, tooling technicians, composite specialists, and fabricators.

GTCC is offering a new track in its nationally known Larry Gatlin School of Entertainment Technology. The Commercial Music track will give you the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in entertainment business, law, marketing, songwriting, and more!
The curriculum will prepare you for entry-level employment in the entertainment industry, particularly in the field of music business. Course work includes exposure to the processes of music business, as well as concert sound and lighting, and recording engineering. Course work will also include entertainment law, entertainment promotion, artist management, and venue management. Students will also receive course work in music theory, electronic music, and recording engineering. Graduates may find employment in artist or venue management, entertainment promotion, music publishing, and other music business endeavors.

Health Information Technology
Health Information Technology is an emerging field in health care, with tremendous job growth. Health Information Technology professionals manage electronic records and other technical systems in the health care industry.
The degree in Health Information Technology can be completed in two years (five semesters) of courses, labs, and work-based clinical experiences. Coursework includes a foundation in anatomy and physiology and medical terminology to support the discipline-specific courses such as medical billing and coding.
Upon graduating from the program, you will be prepared to comprehensively manage health information to include patient access to medical records, security of health information, and coding for billing and insurance purposes. You’ll also be skilled in training physicians and other health care providers on using electronic database systems to access health information.
As a Health Information Technology professional, you can work in a variety of health care settings including doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals and administrative offices. There’s also opportunities to work remotely. This area of health care is growing and the need for qualified professionals is increasing.

Mobile Catering and Food Truck Management
Mobile Catering and Food Truck Management is housed under the umbrella of GTCC’s highly regarded Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management department and is the first of its kind in NC and one of few in the nation. GTCC continues to be a leader in culinary arts education.
The Mobile Catering and Food Truck Management program will prepare you to run your own business in just 16 months. Mobile catering offers low startup costs and potential for a high return on your investment.
You’ll receive hands-on education in our food truck mobile catering lab known as The Green Machine. New coursework in catering cuisine and social media marketing will ensure you will be equipped with the most current culinary skills and knowledge, as well as the latest marketing trends to reach your customers and grow your business. With additional coursework in cost control and small business management, you will possess a solid foundation for your new enterprise.
