This curriculum prepares individuals for employment in medical and other health-care related offices. Course work will include medical terminology; information systems; office management; medical coding, billing and insurance; legal and ethical issues; and formatting and word processing.
Employment opportunities are available in medical and dental offices, hospitals, insurance companies, laboratories, medical supply companies, and other healthcare-related organizations. Courses in this program prepare the student for the Microsoft Office User Specialist Exams. Students will be required to purchase a voucher for these exams as part of the required course materials for each course in the program. Individual exams will be administered at the end of each of the individual courses. When a voucher is required for a particular course, it will be identified on the syllabus and in prominent locations such as the Moodle site and GTCC Bookstore.
